"Baché is able to sing to the heart of each song ..."
" ... very musical ideas that have enhanced what are already well-known pop culture hits."
"A singer [Baché] with great range of emotion, carefully backed by Bruns' Group."
Bruns and Baché, like stellar predecessors Louie Bellson and Mel Torme, are skilled musicians/arrangers.
Drummer Bruns leads a fine Jazz Collective ... The program is composed of great contemporary jazz, and Latin selections come alive ...
... [Bruns] is able to maintain melodies on many levels on his kit without getting in the way of the band or Baché, but adding so much rhythmic color at the same time, very nice!
He [Baché] combines the tone of [Michael] Bublé, the energy of [Kurt] Elling, and the feel of [Gregory] Porter.
Bruns' drumming and tight arrangements provide the perfect setting for Baché's vocals.
... the interaction between the two is excellent.
He [Baché] sings the way he's inspired to sing and he's not the least intimidated by [Bruns'] powerhouse group behind him.
Bruns & Baché have really put together a great project and offer a classy delivery of an enjoyable collection of tunes.
BRUNS & Baché (FKA “Bruns Collective with Kevin Baché”) have been performing to sold-out audiences at Southern California’s top venues for over a decade. Including Catalina Jazz Club, Vibrato, Vitello’s, various Santa Monica series, and Jazz at LACMA. In 2017 and 2019 they completed multi-city tours in Japan.
Lead and founded by drummer/producer Jason Lee BRUNS [Bruhns] and fronted by the powerful lead vocals of charismatic singer/songwriter Kevín Baché [bah-shay]. A horn section, backup singers, and a traditional jazz rhythm section comprised of L.A.s new generation of top session players back this duo’s arrangements at live shows and in the studio.
Though rooted in the jazz tradition — influenced by a variety of contemporary genres, Bruns’ folkloric drumming studies from around the world, and Baché’s pop writing sensibilities — there is nothing antiquated about the group’s modern sound.
Their most recent albums “Live at Catalina” and “Cherry Avenue” were Top-10 charting (College Music Journal, Roots Music Report) airing on 300+ radio stations nationwide. Several songs from the “Cherry Avenue” album enjoyed weekly spins on L.A.’s #1 jazz station K-JAZZ 88.1FM for over a year.
The group is releasing several new studio recordings this year including an L.P. of all originals, a tribute E.P., and two holiday singles.
