My Story

Originally from a small town in South-West, Ohio Jason Lee Bruns’ (b.1979) passion for drumming took him from buying his first drum set with paper route earnings in 6th grade; to section leader of his high school drum line; to Miami University on a full music scholarship; and to USC’s Jazz Studies program.

Though Bruns has been based in Los Angeles, since his move to there in 2003, he’s often traveling the globe in search of new rhythms. Bruns draws on these musical experiences to write and arrange for his Los Angeles based crossover-jazz ensemble The Bruns Collective – which has performed at top L.A. venues including “Jazz at LACMA” and has toured Japan twice.

He’s produced nine albums – including two that charted in the top-10 and holds a B.M. degree in Classical Percussion and M.M. degrees in Jazz Studies (USC) and Music Production (Berklee). Notable projects include Beck’s Sound & Vision, Game of Thrones, Louis Price, and Liane Carroll.
